Safeguarding
The safety and wellbeing of every young person comes first.
At Rediscover Education, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to providing a safe, secure and supportive environment where young people feel listened to, respected and able to build trusted relationships with the adults around them.
We recognise that young people accessing appropriate provision may have a range of individual needs, experiences and vulnerabilities. Our approach to safeguarding therefore goes beyond policies and procedures — it is embedded within our culture, our relationships and the everyday operation of our provision.
01
A culture of safeguarding
Our team has a shared responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of every young person attending Rediscover.
We maintain clear safeguarding procedures, appropriate staff training and robust processes for identifying, recording, reporting and responding to concerns. We work collaboratively with referring schools, local authorities, families and other professionals to ensure relevant safeguarding information is shared appropriately and young people receive the support they need.
Our safeguarding practice is informed by current statutory guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education, and our procedures are regularly reviewed to ensure they remain effective and up to date.
02
Creating an environment where young people feel safe
Positive relationships are central to the Rediscover approach.
We want every young person to know that there are trusted adults they can speak to and that their concerns will be taken seriously. Through consistent boundaries, predictable routines, individualised support and strong relationships, we aim to create an environment in which young people feel safe, valued and understood.
Safeguarding considerations also form part of our referral and placement process, helping us understand each young person's individual circumstances and determine whether Rediscover can safely and appropriately meet their needs.
03
Working together
Effective safeguarding relies on communication and partnership.
We maintain appropriate communication with schools, local authorities, parents/carers and relevant professionals throughout a young person's placement, ensuring concerns are responded to promptly and information is shared appropriately.
Our Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy and other relevant policies are available upon request. Schools, local authorities, parents/carers and other professionals are welcome to contact us if they would like to request a copy or discuss our safeguarding arrangements further.
